Wed April 02, 1941 #62 “Dorfman's Revenge,”
the conclusion of the story line “The Deadly
Plans of Captain X.” The submarine blows up
with all on board, but where are the car
keys?!? With Raymond Edward Johnson as
Mandrake, with Juano Hernandez as Lothar,
and Francesca Lenni as Princess Narda.
-
THE GREEN VALLEY LINE from
WXYZ-Detroit in 1934. Spider's backstory
of lost love, and with a shareholders'
meeting looming, Bill's uncle Judge Merrick
signs on to help. #13 “Spider's Story”
& #14 “A New Hope.”

In 2008, THE GOTHAM RADIO PLAYERS
produced “Coast Guard Cutter Spencer” from
William N Robson's Peabody Award-winning
series THE MAN BEHIND THE GUN,
originally heard over CBS on August 28, 1943.
Our show starred Jeff David, an actor we met
at the Friends of Old-Time Radio Convention,
who sadly died while the show was still in
post-production – this was one of those
very rare shows that we found to be too
complex to perform live, so Steve Lewis,
our director, spent weeks with David Nolan,
our sound engineer, putting this one
together. I think you'll hear that the
results were well worth the effort! Our
cast included Jim Munday as Wally, Paul
Becton as Striker, Lucien Dodge as Ears,
Ted Ferber as Sails, Jim Jockle as Pick
Morello, Fred Urfer as Fuzzy, Bob Madison
as the Lieutenant, and Bill Zarro as the
Captain. Live sound effects performed by
Ann Marie Hendrickson and Paul Curtis,
Odin Medina on the harmonica, all music
composed and performed by Mike Mandel,
the show's theme composed by Van Cleave.
Produced by Max Schmid, this show was
first broadcast over WBAI in NYC on
Jan 04, 2009.

WORDS AT WAR was an NBC series during
WWII based on books about the war. Some were
biographies, some documentaries, and some,
like this one, were human interest stories.
From May 29, 1945 #98 “Soldier to Civilian.”
A drama about the re-adjustments a soldier
must face after life in the service. From
Dr George K Pratt's book, adapted by Rafe
Blau, with Mason Adams as Russell, Frances
Heflin as Christine, Robert Harris, Ethel
Everett, Eleanor Audley, Joe Boland, Frank
Butler, Ken Dainyu, Tom Hoyer, Ted Jewett,
music by William Meader, directed by
Garnet Garrison.
